Molybdenum is an essential micronutrient in plants for converting nitrate nitrogen into the ammonium form, which is used in amino acid and protein synthesis. Insufficient molybdenum reduces protein content, leading to lower yield and quality. Reduced plant growth, decreased leaf area, and leaf chlorosis are symptoms of molybdenum deficiency. Molybdenum uptake, like many nutrients, is pH-dependent. It’s better absorbed in alkaline soils, and deficiency is commonly seen in acidic soils. Therefore, supplementing molybdenum is crucial in greenhouses, particularly hydroponic systems, where the root environment is often acidic. PRINOVA Sodium Molybdate, containing 40% molybdenum in a white, crystalline, and completely water-soluble form, is recommended for foliar and fertigation applications. Using PRINOVA Sodium Molybdate in hydroponic greenhouses and for crops with nitrogen-fixing nodules, such as legumes and alfalfa, significantly increases yield.
